Cindy Herritt

Program Coordinator, 3-Year Old Teacher

Before I became a Preschool Teacher, I had no idea that I could fit so many children in one heart. It’s been my privilege having taught young children for 18 years. My experience working with our future treasures have inspired me to open the Hubbard Heights Preschool. (Bring on the glitter!) I look forward, with great joy and smiles, to make a difference in the beginning of your child’s journey of love and learning, with no boundaries on imagination and laughter. As one of my favorite teachers, my father, would say...“It doesn’t get any better than this.”

beth Nickerson

4-Year Old Teacher

As an educator for over 25 years, I thoroughly enjoy teaching this age group. I look forward to encouraging creativity with our preschoolers. I am very excited we have a dedicated space to teach art and get messy!  "A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination and instill a love of learning." This is what I wish to give the children that I teach, because it will stay with them forever.

Liz Flood

3-Year Old Teacher

As a mother of four kids and stay-at-home mom for years, I’ve been able to watch my children learn and grow as they enter grade school.  I have always loved working with and teaching children.  As my children continue to learn and grow, I decided that I wanted to go back to work as a teacher and share my experiences with my fellow teachers and the next generation of children.  I love to see the smiling faces of children when they walk through the doors willing to make new friends, learn, and grow.  One of my goals teaching every year is to make sure every child is smiling throughout the day.

Taryn Greenberg

3-Year Old Teacher

I’ve worked with children in some form or another for the better part of my life, and now I’m lucky enough to be in the classroom with them every day. I remember
everyone’s birthday and I will never turn down the gift of a handpicked rock or
stick. As a self-proclaimed “big kid” myself, I love dinosaurs (T-Rexes are my
favorite), Star Wars, super heroes, Disney movies, and especially glitter. As a child, I was either digging in the mud or creating masterpieces at the easel, and I
encourage the children I teach to do the same.

I believe children should spend as much time as possible exploring the great big
world around them (indoors and especially outdoors). They should get messy, a
little dirty, and laugh as often as possible. Most importantly, I believe preschool is
the perfect place to instill a lifelong love of learning and creating with challenges
and encouragement. I look forward to doing that here at the Hubbard Heights
Preschool.

“Tell me and I’ll forget. Show me and I may remember. Involve me and I learn.”

Kim Whitney

4-Year Old Teacher

After growing up in the theater and pursuing a career in musical theater for many years, I decided to change my career path towards teaching and went back to school earning my Masters in Early Childhood Education.  Since 2010, I’ve been doing what I believe to be the most important job, being a mom.  My daughter’s Willow and Sienna went to Hubbard Heights and it was so exciting to see them grow in the 3’s and 4’s program. This year, I am so happy to be back in the classroom not as a parent, but as a teacher and I look forward to instilling the same love of learning that my children received through their time at Hubbard Heights Preschool.

4-Year Old Teacher

I was a secretary/bookkeeper for 20 years, but after my twin sons graduated from college, I attended Norwalk Community College and earned my degree in Early Childhood Education and taught for 17 years.  I love being around young children and I’m fortunate to have two grandsons.  I came out of retirement because when it comes to children “the more the merrier”. Their innocence, language, laughter, and willingness to try new things is so uplifting.  One of my hopes for their future is that they love books and have the desire to read.

Kerry Hannigan

4-Year Old Teacher

After spending the last 10 years as a stay-at-home mom of two girls, I decided it was time to explore what’s next.  I’ve long had a passion for education and couldn’t think of anything better than being able to spend my days with a class of preschoolers that are ready to explore the world and continue to learn. This is my first year at Hubbard Heights Preschool and I hope to encourage a creative, joyful, and positive learning environment.

Helen Keeley

Music Teacher

I began teaching early childhood classes and conducting music programs since the early 1970s. I believe that exposure and appreciation of music is very important to the development of young children. In my programs, children are encouraged to sing and use different instruments, fostering confidence and dexterity. I often bring my interests in outdoor activities to my music program, which raises awareness, and promotes an appreciation, of the environment.
